Emi is a Sumatran rhinoceros living at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. She is the only Sumatran rhino that has given birth twice while living in captivity. Sumatran rhinos have two horns and typically weigh between 1,300 and two thousand pounds. Emi has lived in captivity for more than a decade, and she has suffered miscarriages five times. Her first offspring, Andalas, was born on September 13, 2001. Her second offspring, Suci, was born on July 30, 2004. In June 2006, the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden announced that Emi and her mate, Ipuh, were expecting another baby rhino.
