<p>In 1814, William Henry Harrison and Lewis Cass negotiated a treaty with the Wyandot (Huron), the Lenape (Delaware), the Shawnee, the Seneca, and the Miami on the behalf of the United States government. Known as the Treaty with the Wyandots, Delawares, Shawnee, Senecas, and Miami, this agreement established peaceful relations between the Wyandot, Lenape, Shawnee, and the Seneca with the Miami. These five tribes also agreed to assist the United States against the British in the War of 1812.</p>   
<p>On July 22, 1814, the various parties signed the Treaty with the Wyandots, Delawares, Shawnee, Senecas, and Miami. This agreement illustrated the continued struggle between the British and the white Americans to establish allyships with Ohio's American Indian peoples.. This struggle had existed since the American Revolution, but with the United States' victory in the War of 1812, Ohio's American Indians no longer had the British as an ally to assist them in inhibiting the westward onslaught of invading of Anglo-American settlers. </p>
