Bees and Honey

Valued for their polination of crops as well as their honey, honeybees first came to the Ohio Country with the Moravian missions to the Upper Muskingum Valley during the 1770s and 1780s. In 1992, 1,360 farms had 32,981 colonies of bees. The top five counties were:
