{ Ohio's early business mainly involved agriculture, trapping and trade. Manufacturing was pretty much limited to individual craftspeople. During the past two hundred years, the Industrial Revolution, changes in transportation, education, improvements in technology, as well as many other causes, have changed business and industry in Ohio rather dramatically.

In 1995, the businesses that provide services employed the most workers in Ohio. It also was the fastest growing of the state's eight main industries. Average weekly earnings for all groups in Ohio were $509.04.
