The Cleveland Eclipse was a women�s professional soccer team from Cleveland, Ohio. The Eclipse originally played in the Central Region of the United States Inter-Regional Women�s League. This league eventually became the United States Women�s Soccer League. In its first season (1996), the Eclipse finished in fifth place in its region, with a final record of three wins and two losses. The team remained in the league for five more seasons. In 1997, the squad, now in the Midwest Division, finished fifth in the division. The following season, the Eclipse won the W-2 Division�s Central Division, with a record of nine wins and three losses. The team failed to advance beyond the first round of the playoffs. In 1999, the squad now played in the W-2 Division�s Central Division�s Midwest Section. The Eclipse finished second in its division this season. Still in the Central Division for the 2000 and 2001 seasons, the Eclipse finished third in its division in 2000 and fifth in 2001. The team disbanded following the 2001 season.
