The Columbus Golden Seals was a professional hockey team in Columbus, Ohio. It played for two seasons (1971 and 1972) in the International Hockey League. The team had a dismal record in each of its two seasons. In 1971, the team won fifteen, lost fifty-five, and tied two matches, finishing last in its division. The next season the Golden Seals won ten, lost sixty-two, and tied two matches, again finishing last. The team�s owner, Charlie Finley, who also owned the Oakland A�s, a Major League Baseball team, and the California Golden Seals, a National Hockey League team, sold the Columbus Golden Seals at the end of the 1972 season. The new owner, Al Savill, renamed the team the Columbus Owls.
