{ The Columbus Owls was a professional hockey team in Columbus, Ohio. It played for four seasons (1973 to 1977) in the International Hockey League. The Owls were originally known as the Columbus Golden Seals, but the name changed in 1973 when a new owner acquired the team.
The Columbus Owls quickly became known for their rough play. During the 1973-1974 season, the team led the IHL in penalty minutes, accumulating 2,437 penalty minutes in seventy-six games.
