The Dayton Rockettes was a professional basketball team in Dayton, Ohio. The team was a founding member of and played in the Womens Basketball League (WBL), which formed in 1978. Many sports historians claim that the WBL was the first professional basketball league for women. It lasted for three seasons, before a lack of fan support caused the leagues demise. The Dayton Rockettes home games occurred in the Hara Arena.
Louis Deitelbaum founded the Rockettes. The squad played only in the 1978-1979 season. The team finished third in the WBLs Eastern Division, with a final record of twelve wins and twenty-two losses. Due to poor fan support, the Rockettes disbanded at the end of the first season.
