The Appalachian dulcimer is a fretted string instrument of the zither family, typically with three or four strings.

Since 1974, Roscoe Village, in Coshocton, Ohio, has hosted Dulcimer Days. This festival celebrates a musical instrument called the dulcimer and its music. It is the oldest dulcimer festival in Ohio. Dulcimer Days usually occurs in mid-May. The festival hosts the Mid-Eastern Regional Dulcimer Championships. Various workshops, jam sessions, and other events also take place during Dulcimer Days.
