{ In 1967, voters authorized the creation of Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio. Lakeland Community College was the first college established by voters in Ohio. The college principally attracted students from Lake County, Cuyahoga County, Geauga County, and Ashtabula County, a trend that continues today. In 2005, more than thirteen thousand students attended the college. These students participated in seventy-six different degree or certificate programs. As a two-year institution, the highest degree that Lakeland Community College provides is an Associates degree. In 2005, Lakeland Community College offered classes in Madison, Ohio, Willowick, Ohio, and Painesville, Ohio. [[Category:{$topic}]]
