Northwest State Community College

In 1968, the Ohio Board of Regents authorized the creation of the Four County Technical Institute, the predecessor of Northwest State Community College. The institute formally opened in September 1969, in the Four County Joint Vocational School, located in Archbold, Ohio. By 1972, the Four County Technical Institute had become Northwest Technical College, and the institution had relocated to its own campus in Archbold. Thanks to the new facility, the Northwest Technical College could educate up to six hundred students. Fifteen years later, the Northwest Technical College expanded its facilities, doubling the number of students that could attend the college. Over the next several years, the college became known as the Northwest State Community College, a two-year institution, and began to offer Associates degrees.
