In 1972, members of the Temple Baptist Church created Temple Baptist College in Springdale, Ohio. The congregation formed this institution of higher education because of the lack of Christian colleges devoted to the Baptist faith in Cincinnati. The Temple Baptist College's primary purpose was to provide local residents with a sound education based upon Baptist beliefs. The Ohio Board of Regents authorized Temple Baptist College to award four-year undergraduate degrees in 1972. The institution, now located in Cincinnati, Ohio, also offers masters and doctoral degrees in several programs.
