{ In 1971, Washington Technical Institute, the predecessor of Washington State Community College, formed in Marietta, Ohio. The institution offered certificate training in various technical programs. The following year, Washington Technical Institute became known as Washington Technical College. In 1991, the institution moved to a 280-acre site in Marietta and again underwent a name change, becoming Washington State Community College. Washington State Community College served primarily people from Washington and Morgan Counties. The institution also offered in-state tuition for residents of neighboring West Virginia. In 2005, the college offered degrees in fifty different programs of study. This same year, Washington State Community College boasted an enrollment of 2,300 students. [[Category:{$topic}]]
