Working Home for the Blind

In 1886, the Ohio General Assembly established the Working Home for the Blind in Iberia, Ohio. If they chose to do so, blind adults in Ohio could reside in the home. These adults would be trained in an occupation, which would allow them to work at the Working Home for the Blind. The ultimate goal was for the home and these adults to become self supporting. Unfortunately, in 1895, a fire struck the facility, destroying many of the buildings. Rather than rebuild the Working Home for the Blind, the Ohio General Assembly cancelled the project.
