Zane State College

In 1969, Muskingum Area Technical College, the predecessor of Zane State College, opened in Zanesville, Ohio. This institution first shared facilities with Muskingum Area Joint Vocational School, but in 1975, the college relocated to a 179-acre site, which it shared with Ohio University-Zanesville. Muskingum Area Technical College also offered classes at several off-campus locations. In 2004, almost 1,900 students enrolled at the institution, with sixty-three percent of the students being women. In the early 2000s, Muskingum Area Technical College changed its name to Zane State College in recognition of its wide range of classes. In 2005, Zane State College offered Associates degrees in twenty-five different programs, as well as certificates in twenty other areas.
